Opportunities for Personal Trainers

Being a personal trainer has never been more important for society than it is today.  The number of people in the United States that are currently overweight or obese is nothing short of shocking.  As a personal trainer, you can actually play a part in helping people recover or discover a healthy body and healthy lifestyle.

Helping people that are in poor physical health better themselves is no small matter.  More and more people are dying premature deaths every single year from being overweight.  Diseases such as heart disease and cancer are just two of the killers that are cutting people down years or even decades before their time.  Yet, while this news is unfortunate and grim, you as a professional trainer have an opportunity as a result.  The country and indeed the world are now full of potential clients.  In fact, you have more potential clients than ever before.  This means more opportunities than ever before as well.  Now is simply a great time to be a personal trainer.

Great Options for Personal Trainers

Health club: When most people they think about personal trainers, they think about them working at health clubs.  No doubt this is one option, and it can be a good one.  But it’s not the only one by any means.  The advantage of working as a personal trainer in a health club is that you are able to work for an existing corporation and collect an annual salary.  It is also a great opportunity to network with clients just in case you decide to start your own personal training services down the road.

Private Personal Trainer: If you network effectively through all the different networking channels at your disposal, you may be able to build a pretty robust list of people that are interested in your services.  Remember you can network via social networking and the Internet as well.  This is a great opportunity that should not be overlooked.  Making virtual friends that live in your area and then promoting your services (complete with discounts for new members) may be a relatively easy, inexpensive, and effective way to launch your own private personal trainer services.  It’s a real opportunity that you owe it to yourself to explore.

Create Your Own Fitness Website: Technology has progressed in such a fashion that starting up your own fitness website is really not out of the question.  Don’t be dissuaded by the fact that you don’t know how to design a website.  There are plenty of people that do.  Take your skills online with instructional lessons and videos.

Once you have the site up you can sell memberships to anyone in the world or you can sell private training sessions to those in your local area.  This is another great opportunity.

Create Your Own Fitness DVD: Just as there are plenty of people who can build websites, there are also plenty of people who can produce low-budget video content.  Low budget doesn’t mean what it once did.  Today’s digital cinema technology is vastly superior from what existed a few years ago.  The truth is there is no real reason you can’t produce a quality DVD with the help of a few media professionals.  Once completed, you could promote your DVD via the Internet or maybe even sell it on a site like Amazon.

Write Your Own Fitness Book: If you are a personal trainer with years of experience, consider writing a fitness book.  Take all that you have learned over the years and put it down in writing so that others can benefit.  Once you have a book in your hands, you can promote it and sell it on your own or shop it around to a literary agent.  Sure getting a book published is tough, but digital distribution has opened up all kinds of new avenues.  Take advantage of all these new opportunities.
