All-State Career - Healthcare Division
Two of the school's four campuses offer the health care division at All-State Career. Both the Essington, Pennsylvania campus on Powhattan Avenue and the Baltimore, Maryland campus along Broening Highway offer medical and nursing training programs. Medical assisting, dental assisting, expanded function dental assisting, pharmacy technician, EMT/paramedic, and medical billing and coding are programs included in the health care division.
Students desiring to pursue an entry-level career in dental assisting can take full advantage of the extensive program offered at All-State Career. Graduates of the program become certified dental assistants and bring to the job market both the interpersonal and technical skills that enable them to exceed expectations. In actual dental office environments, students receive real experience - both hands-on and chair-side. Students are able to enter employment in dental offices, hospitals, dental units, insurance companies, public and private health care facilities, and mobile dental units upon course completion and graduation.
A program for the expanded function dental assistant is also offered at the health care division of All-State Career. Advanced lab techniques, chair-side assisting using four-handed dentistry, preliminary patient examinations, charting, scheduling appointments, patient record keeping, and instrument sterilization and procedures and training are expanded on from the dental assistant program. A dentist will supervise every procedure that is conducted. Students who graduate from this program obtain certification to perform more intricate functions, such as intra-oral surgery procedures and restorative dentistry. Radiograph exposure is another skill that can be gained by qualified radiology students. The Essington, Pennsylvania campus offers an expanded function dental assisting program.
For its students, graduates, and alumni, All-State offers job placement assistance and career services. Interview training, resume building, skills assessment and placement, and job search ideas and techniques are offered by the career services department. Mock interview workshops, salary negation lectures, and resume and cover letter discussions for added help with obtaining future employment always involve students.
