Criminal Justice

The law is ever present in society. From the punishment and treatment of drug users to the threat and prosecution of terrorism, the law is more than a theoretical exercise: the law affects us every day. In the end, the law helps organize how a society functions by determining what is permitted and what is not.

The study of law and legal studies ultimately concern the judicial system – how the courts interpret and apply the body of laws and how the judicial and criminal justice systems work together. The study of law often includes common law, civil law, criminal law, and international law.
Legal professions and studies programs include: law, legal research, international law, tax law, court reporting, and paralegal.
