Jones International University

Mind Extension University, from 1987 cable television, enabled more than 30,000 students to take courses via television and this is where Jones International University is rooted. Glen R. Jones, the founder of Mind Extension and Jones International University, officiallyestablished JIU in 1993 and it went on to become the first totally online university to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

The School of Education and the School of Business are the two schools within the JIU. Advanced degrees that are provided by the School of Education. The following degrees are offered:

  • Master of Education, Education Specialist, in which students become qualified to become principals of schools with grade levels K-12
  • Doctorate of Education - Certificates for certified teachers are also offered.

Certificates can be earned in either e-Learning design, English as a second language, literacy, and corporate training.

Associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a broad range of business disciplines are offered by the School of Business. A Doctorate in Business, a Master's in Business Administration, a Bachelor's in Business Administration, Associate of Science in Digital Media, and Associate in Business Administration, are some of the degrees included.

Students can be assisted by the services to students by the Student Affairs Office of Jones International University, in the completion of their degrees. The student services department includes advising, the bookstore, the library, placement assistance, services for the disabled, and career services. With access to many thousands of research databases, library services also includes access to many thousands of e-books. Students have access to a reference librarian through online chat rooms or co-searching. Available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, the reference librarian and all library services are available.

Loans and grants are forms of federal student financial aid offered by Jones International University to help in financing your education. Other types of aid with different payment options are also offered. Because JIU is an online university, the accredited degrees can be completed entirely without ever visiting a campus.
