Le Cordon Bleu Schools North America
With over a century of culinary excellence behind it, Le Cordon Bleu provides classic culinary techniques as well as modern innovations and cutting-edge global cuisine. A creative and supportive community is provided at Le Cordon Bleu in which passionate people can immerse themselves in the culinary world. At Le Cordon Bleu Schools, students work side by side with caring, experienced chef instructors and learn the required skills that will enable them to embark on a professional career in the culinary/hospitality industry.
At Le Cordon Bleu you will find yourself surrounded by others who love cooking, baking, and fine dining. Although you will spend lots of time in the kitchens each week, there will be plenty of time for you to engage in other activities and amenities, like our on-site restaurants, guest presentations, media events and competitions, clubs, and externships. Or, since the schools are located in some of the most exciting and desirable places in the country, check out the surrounding areas. No matter how you spend your days, you will find a mixed group of friends, colleagues, and faculty ready to assist you in the pursuit of your dreams.
The programs at Le Cordon Bleu have been designed for students who are interested in a career and are ready to savor success. Students who attend North America's Le Cordon Bleu Schools are provided with an environment that emphasizes development, both personal and professional. This environment is where students learn basic cooking skills and have the opportunity to create their own techniques and recipes. In addition, critical business concepts are learned.
Demonstration courses are combined with practical, hands-on experience in professional kitchens in the Culinary Arts program at Le Cordon Bleu. This program is continually refined and improved, and it offers students the chance to learn classical cooking methods as well as qualitative food preparation, sanitation, and nutrition aspects. Under the tutelage of the Executive Chef, students will be encouraged to develop their own individual style and creativity. A general education section is also included in the Culinary Arts program so that students obtain a complete academic foundation.
Subjects that are studied include:
- Basic cookery
- Culinary arts concepts
- Baking and pastry
- Nutrition
- Hospitality supervision
- International cuisine
- Food and beverage cost control
It is also necessary for students to complete an externship. The externship program affords students an opportunity to receive hands-on experience in a real-life environment, and acts as preparation for their transition to a culinary arts career.
