Sanford-Brown Institute
Students receive career-focused training in the areas of health care and criminal justice in their coursework at Sanford-Brown Institute, which features cutting-edge learning resources and instructional technology to encourage students to learn the material. Your training can be completed in as short a time as 9 months, at any of their convenient campuses located all over the United States.
The Fast Approach
Sanford-Brown Institute provides a short-term program that gives you the opportunity to successfully customize your skills to the particular needs of your future work setting. Adult students can finish their chosen programs in less than a year. Programs normally begin every five weeks with both classes in the evening and daytime classes offered. This means that you most likely will find a schedule that is convenient for you.
Focused
The courses at Sanford-Brown focus on the skills and knowledge that potential employers will want you, as an entry-level employee, to possess. Their goal is to provide you with the skills and hands-on experience necessary to begin your career. Their study programs are to the point, so you won't be paying for classes or instruction that isn't required for your career goals.
Hands-On
Sanford-Brown Institute students use the same hands-on technology during their training that will be used when they get jobs in the real world. This is why they use cutting-edge industry tools in teaching students the skills that employers are looking for. You will use industry relevant equipment during the hands-on portion. As a result, you will acquire the necessary abilities and confidence you'll need to perform the tasks you'll need at your job.
Dental Assisting
Sanford-Brown Institute's Dental Assisting with Expanded Functions program at Sanford-Brown Institute-Ft. Lauderdale SBI educates students in learning to assist in many situations in the dental office. Dental anatomy, pathology and terminology, dental instruments and materials, X-rays and radiography, chair side assisting techniques, and dental laboratory and office administration procedures are all components of the training that students receive. Work in the laboratory, clinical experiences, and lectures are all included in this course of study's fundamentals. A supervised clinical will comprise the student's final externship, at which time the student will have to complete competencies, logs, and evaluations. Students who graduate from the program and have faithfully attended class and externship placements, done their homework assignments, and applied the skills they have learned, should have no trouble finding entry-level jobs as dental assistants.
The Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA has not accredited SBI's Dental Assisting program. The Dental Assisting National Board (DNBA) offers a certification exam and they strongly urge students who graduate from the program in Expanded Functions to take this test. Although graduates do not have to take this certification examination, doing so may open up more job opportunities for them. After graduating and accumulating at least 3500 work hours as a dental assistant, graduates can take the exam. SBI has no control over the requirements for examination registration and certification. These things are controlled by outside agencies and can change without any warning. It is for this reason that SBI cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take certification exams at any particular time, even if they met requirements at the time of enrollment.
State Licensure and Registration Information
Each state controls its own state licensure and registration regulations, and they are subject to change without notice. Although Florida does not mandate that dental assistants must be licensed, other states do impose that requirement. Because SBI has no control over the licensure and/or registration requirements, they cannot guarantee that graduates will actually be able to work as dental assistants in Florida or any other state, even though this may have been the case when they enrolled.
Massage Therapy
In the Massage Therapy program, students are taught clinical practice, hygiene, ethics, pathology, physiology, anatomy, theoretical massage, and practical massage. Therapeutic massage principles, hydrotherapy, and allied therapeutic modalities are areas in which training is offered. Massage techniques, the external application of water, heat, cold, topical preparations, and mechanical devices are among the topics covered. Lecture and clinical aspects are both part of the core curriculum. The capstone of the curriculum is supervised experiences in a clinical setting. This requires the completion of competencies, logs, and evaluations. The student that has completed all the work assignments, attended class regularly, finished the externship and fulfilled their hours of practice, will be qualified for an entry-level massage therapist job.
