Hokkaido
Hokkaido is the second largest and northernmost island of Japan's four main islands. Sapporo is the capital and Japan´s fifth largest city. Sapporo attracts a lot of tourists, but the biggest draw to Hokkaido is it's natural scenery. Hokkaido has an impressive landscape rich with rugged coastline, snowcapped mountains, and wildflower fields. This island is a favorite of Japanese looking to get out of the hectic scene of the busy, loud cities and enjoy the magnificent parks, lakes, and coastline. Visitors can also find volcanoes, hot springs, and temples located throughout the island.

Tohoku
The Tohoku region is in the northeastern part of Honshu which is the largest island of Japan. Like most of Japan, Tohoku is hilly or mountainous. In fact the major attraction of this region is the Three Mountains of Dewa. These three sacred mountains, Mount Haguro, Mount Gassan. and Mount Yudono, are holy to the Japanese Shinto religion and it is a popular pilgrimage site. Many tourists also come for the great hiking trails and the hot springs located in the Shimokita Peninsula.

Kanto
The Kanto region is one of the world's most densely populated region on Earth. Home to the capital city, Tokyo, it attracts a large amount of visitors every year. Tokyo is an obvious choice for tourists as it offers big city appeal including skyscrapers and huge department stores as well as traditional elements such as Buddist temples and Matusi.

Chubu-Hokuriku
The Chubu region lies in the western part of Kanto. It is characterised by the rugged Japanese Alps that divide the region in to the sunnier Pacific side and the colder sea of the Sea of Japan. Although not as popular among tourists because of its isolation, Chubu is known for its natural splendor, Mount Fuji, and the hot springs of Izu. It is also well-known for The Takato Joshi Koen Cherry Blossom Festival that takes place in April.

Kansai
Kansai is home to most of Japan's World Heritage Sites which is one of the reasons that makes this region the number one tourist destination in Japan. The rich history is abundant in all of the region which is located in the plains of Yamato where Japan first came to be unified as a country. Kansai offers many attraction such as the Himeji Castle, Osaka, and Ise Jingu.

Chugoku-Shikoku
Chugoku is located in the westernmost part of the main island Hondu. Although it is a region full of beautiful sights and natural splendor, the main draw to this region is Hiroshima . In addition to sight seeing in Hiroshima, Chugoku has the famous 88 Temple of Innoshima.

Kyushu-Okinawa
Kyushu is the third largest and the southernmost of the four main islands in Japan. The climate is warmer and more tropical than most of Japan. Kyushu offers many historic sites, modern cities, and natural beauty. Kyushu is home to Nagasaki. This port city played an important role in trade relations with other countries for many centuries and is an impressive tourist destination.
